5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD VOLUNTEER WITH HOPE FOR COMMUNITY

“High school is an exciting time for discoveries, challenges and opportunities to learn more about yourself. While school can teach you about many subjects that you will invest time in to figure out future careers, there are certainly other experiences that can help you hone new skills and initiatives that you are passionate about!”

Volunteering is one of the many ways to find causes that you’re passionate about and grow your abilities to help with community development. With our HOPE for Community program, you will be able to work alongside organizations that help with different societal issues that you care about. Here are 5 reasons why HOPE for Community might be right for you:

1. Our program opens doors to many different opportunities and promotes exposure to all social causes.

Worried that you might not find what you are looking for, or unsure of what you want? HOPE for Community has partnered with many organizations, including animal rescues, environmental education, medical accessibility and so much more. You are sure to find something that you like or explore organizations that you might have not heard of before!

2. We strive to be flexible and accommodating to help you find the perfect volunteer position.

At HOPE for Community, we understand the hardships of looking for suitable volunteer positions that meet your time and needs. Volunteering can seem daunting at first because it is a time commitment that you must be willing to accept. However, we want to be as supportive of you as possible and will do everything we can to find a position that fits what you are looking for.

3. We will prepare you for your new role and offer ways to create new initiatives yourselves.

Are you a first-time volunteer? That is not an issue for us as we offer monthly workshops to help develop job, professional development and communication skills. By attending these workshops, you will gain tangible skills that you will be able to use throughout your volunteering position. Looking for more ways to help with community development? We also offer space for collaborations with the organization that you are interested in and are open to discussing your visions and ideas!

4. HOPE for Community aims to be a space for student and community collaboration even through these difficult times.

2020 was a year of uncertainty and COVID-19 has brought a lot of change within all of our lives. You may be wondering how you can volunteer as many organizations have moved their spaces online, and the lack of in-person events and programs is being temporarily halted. While this is all true, we are still trying to build your volunteering experience into one that is meaningful and helps expand your skillset. With our hardworking team, you will be supported throughout your position time by any means necessary.

5. Our philosophy resonates with the concept of mutual aid and empowerment.

HOPE aims to work with marginalized social communities while showing awareness and respect for different cultures, backgrounds and beliefs. Over the years, we have collaborated with many different organizations and groups to provide programs that benefit social causes. We have held workshops and launched projects for youth, women, individuals with disabilities and houseless folks.
