UFCW equity grant
Hello! My name is Bianca Mammarella (leftmost), a third year integrated science student concentrating in biology with an interdisciplinary minor in community engagement at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada! I am one of four cofounders of HOPE’s McMaster branch and hold the position of Treasurer. Over this past month, I have been honoured to be the recipient of UFCW’s equity grant in support of McMaster HOPE. We are thrilled to be selected as one of three Canadian organizations this year. I have been a pharmacy assistant with Loblaws companies over the last three years and this grant is provided to us through my union. Through multiple conversations with both community members and colleagues, the grant application had come in contact with me. I had applied to the grant under the community action stream as I felt it aligned most with our missions for this year. McMaster HOPE’s most successful events are HOPE4SUCCESS in addition to Warmth of Winter. I had outlined our plans to expand our outreach of both these programs which would greatly benefit those who were unable to attend in previous years. We are excited and extremely grateful for the doors this opportunity will bring!
